Ananda Kendra

Ananda Kendra - The Centre of Joy
The organization is running a Home in the village of Atghara in North 24 PGS called Ananda Kendra - the centre of joy, which was established in 1993 and has been functional since 1997. Social Orphan, Battered Women and Destitute elderly persons are the main beneficiaries of this project. At present “Shakti Sadan” (erstwhile Swadhar Greh/ Short Stay Home) Project of the Department of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India is functional for shelter and rehabilitation of destitute women along with their children (if any). This is a home and rehabilitation center for counseling, and skill development programs to empower the women in distress, including victims of trafficking. It is part of the Mission Shakti program of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.  The organization is also running a Child Care Institution for the children who are in need of care and protection supported by friends and patrons of SEVA. The Child Care Institution provides a nurturing environment for orphaned and vulnerable children, ensuring their holistic development through education, health care, and emotional support. Children go to regular schools with general students of the village, get cultural and vocational training. Those who want to pursue higher education after turning 18 years old, get special support from the SEVA Higher Education Fund. The third group of beneficiaries are the elderly persons who do not have support from family and instead get a larger family in this center of joy. They stay in this Home as the grand aunty or grand parents of the children with the financial support from friends and patrons of SEVA. Thus this beautiful integrated home functions as a large family for the persons who are not included in their biological families and nurture many talents giving birth to future teachers, social workers, nurses, company workers, mothers and family makers. They learn to love and be inclusive
